ValueQuest Tristar Fund raises over ₹2,100 crore in commitments

ValueQuest Tristar Fund, a private equity fund focused on India’s advanced manufacturing sector, has secured over ₹2,100 crore in investor commitments within 15 months of its first close, exceeding its original fundraising target, including the full greenshoe.

The Fund focuses on aerospace, defence, precision engineering and energy-transition-linked manufacturing. Its portfolio includes four companies: Hi-Q Electronics, Rangsons Aerospace, Waaree Energy Storage Solutions and Trusted Aerospace & Engineers (TASE Global).

“India is at the beginning of a multi-decade transformation in advanced manufacturing. But sector growth alone does not guarantee investment returns. The real differentiator is identifying the right businesses at the right stage of their evolution. The work we do upfront gives us the conviction to partner with strong promoters and deepen our exposure as they deliver against milestones,” said Aniket Dharamshi, Co-Founder and Managing Partner, ValueQuest Investment Advisors.

“In advanced manufacturing, competitive advantage is built over years through process expertise, rigorous customer qualification and consistent delivery on quality and reliability. Once a supplier becomes integral to a customer’s critical programs, replacing it can involve significant time, cost and execution risk. We seek businesses that can build on these capabilities to deepen customer relationships and translate industry growth into sustained, profitable growth,” said Dr. Arvind Ananthanarayanan, Partner, ValueQuest Private Equity.

ValueQuest Private Equity manages over ₹6,000 crore across two investment strategies, three funds and co-investments.

Vikram Kasat, Chief Business Officer, Advisory and Dealing at PL Capital, on markets today

Indian equities witnessed a relief-led rally, with the Sensex gaining nearly 900 points and the Nifty holding above 23,200, supported by easing crude prices and strong corporate earnings. Brent crude fell 3.3% to $109.66 per barrel amid hopes of progress in US-Iran diplomatic talks, easing concerns around imported inflation and corporate margins. Reliance Industries surged over 8% following a 33.8% YoY rise in quarterly profit, while Jio Platforms gained over 3% on 13.7% profit growth. Metals, autos and energy stocks outperformed, whereas IT and private banks remained under pressure. FIIs had purchased ₹3,598.54 crore in the previous session. Going forward, sustained foreign inflows, crude stability and earnings breadth will determine whether this recovery develops into a durable trend.

FII selling contrasts with improving growth outlook, bringing selective value opportunities into focus: ArunaGiri N, Founder, CEO, TrustLine Holdings

Persistent FII selling has significantly reduced India’s weight in global portfolios, raising questions about the sustainability of this trend. Foreign investors have withdrawn over $40 billion so far this calendar year, including more than $5 billion in October. India’s weight in the MSCI Emerging Markets Index has declined from around 22% in 2023 to approximately 11.29% now, while a single Taiwanese company, TSMC, accounts for over 15%. FII ownership of Indian equities has also fallen from around 18% or more to just over 15%, a 15-year low.

However, this under-allocation could present a contrarian opportunity. Elevated crude prices, currency volatility, geopolitical uncertainty and the growing attractiveness of global AI investments have weighed on India’s appeal. A normalisation of these factors, supported by resilient domestic growth and corporate earnings, could gradually encourage foreign investors to reconsider their India allocations.

Interestingly, FIIs have continued investing in the primary market despite selling aggressively in the secondary market. In October, they sold over $5 billion in the secondary market but invested around half a billion dollars in IPOs up to October 23. Including the Reliance Jio allocation, this investment could exceed $1 billion. This raises questions about the preference for fixed-price allocations, listing gains or differences in investment horizons.

Another market contradiction is weakening sentiment despite improving growth forecasts. Several global agencies have upgraded India’s FY27 growth outlook, while the RBI has raised its projection by 40 basis points to 7.1%. September GST collections grew 14.7% year-on-year, while e-way bill generation reached a record 141.53 million, growing over 7%.

Despite these positives, small- and mid-cap valuations remain divergent. While some businesses trade at demanding multiples, over 25–30% of the universe is trading at near single-digit multiples. This could offer opportunities for selective value investing, provided elevated crude prices and supply shocks do not persist.

Gold falls to $3,875, silver plunges 8.8% as Fed rate hike fears trigger metals sell-off ahead of Dhanteras

Renisha Chainani, chief research officer at Augmont, writes -Gold fell 3% last week to $3,875, its lowest close since October 2025, after strong US GDP and sticky PCE inflation pushed markets to price a December Fed hike. Silver dropped 8.8% to $49.13, breaking below $50. A deepening sell-off in technology stocks left investors selling metals to cover losses elsewhere, and large gold and silver miners dropped as much as 8%. Rising Brent, driven by Gulf tanker attacks, fed rate fears rather than safe-haven demand, while a tech sell-off forced metal liquidation. ETF outflows picked up, but central bank buying remains steady. With Dhanteras on November 6, lower prices could revive Indian demand. Gold support sits at $3,860; bullish confirmation needs a close above $4,000.

MACRO BACKDROP & FED POLICY - THE FED HELD, BUT THE DATA DID THE DAMAGE

Wednesday’s FOMC meeting left rates unchanged at 3.75%–4%, though the 10–2 vote showed a split: Governor Lisa Cook and Cleveland Fed President Beth Hammack both wanted a quarter-point hike. Chair Kevin Warsh offered no clear steer on December. Gold dipped briefly to about $4,034 on the decision and had recovered by the evening.

Thursday was a different story. The BEA’s advance estimate showed Q3 GDP growing at 3.4% annualised, up from 2.2% in Q2. September PCE inflation came in at 0.5% for the month and 3.6% for the year, with core PCE at 3.1%. Strong growth paired with sticky inflation is about the worst combination for a metal that pays no interest. Markets are now pricing another 25 bp hike in December, following September’s move, which was the first hike since 2023. By Friday, the US 10-year yield was sitting near 4.93%.

GEOPOLITICAL TENSIONS - OIL UP, GOLD DOWN

The US-Israel war with Iran is now in its eighth month, and October was the worst month yet for Gulf shipping, with at least 35 attacks on UKMTO’s count. On Thursday, Iranian fast boats set off limpet mines on the tanker Louise 1, and on Friday another tanker was struck by explosive devices. Brent settled at $117.64, a six-month high, after gaining 13.6% over October.

In normal times, headlines like these would lift gold. This time, the higher oil price fed straight into inflation expectations and Fed hike bets, so the war premium landed in

crude and bond yields instead of bullion. Traders are also preparing for possible US escalation after the November 3 midterms.

    INVESTMENT AND RETAIL DEMAND

ETF selling gathered pace. Gold ETFs recorded net outflows of $1.21 billion in the week to October 23, breaking a 13-week run of inflows. SPDR Gold Shares (GLD) holdings fell 14.26 tonnes to 1,043.36 tonnes as of October 28, and the fund lost about $1.4 billion over October, though some of that money simply moved into cheaper funds such as GLDM and IAUM. CFTC data showed money managers trimming net longs to 104,206 contracts as of October 20.

Some perspective helps here. Q3 was a record quarter for gold ETFs, with $31 billion of inflows and holdings up 211 tonnes. What we’re seeing now is profit-taking from a high base. Official buying hasn’t wavered. World Gold Council data shows central banks reported 39 tonnes of net purchases in August, bringing the 2026 total to about 170 tonnes. The People’s Bank of China added 21 tonnes in September, its biggest monthly purchase in three years, and Poland had bought 98 tonnes by August. Central banks tend to buy into weakness rather than chase rallies, so their demand usually slows a decline. It rarely stops one within a week.

Dhanteras falls on November 6, and the price drop has come at a good moment for buyers. Indian dealers went from offering discounts of up to $6 an ounce to charging premiums of up to $7 in mid-October, the first premium in more than three months. The WGC also noted that the domestic discount to import parity narrowed from a September average of $66 to $8 in October.

Jewellers say footfall has improved, but investors are waiting for prices to settle before committing. Supply is tight too: September gold imports fell to $1.8 billion from $9.6 billion a year earlier. If MCX gold holds near ₹1,38,000, we expect coin and lightweight jewellery buying to pick up through Dhanteras and into the wedding season.

    WEEK AHEAD

It’s a busy week: the US midterms on November 3, then October non-farm payrolls and Dhanteras, both on November 6. A strong jobs print would firm up December hike bets and keep metals under pressure. Any post-election escalation in the Gulf could push oil higher still, and for now that hurts gold more through rate expectations than it helps through safe-haven demand

Swapnil Aggarwal, Director, VSRK Capital on: Silver Outlook Remains Cautious for 2026-End, With Recovery Likely Only Over the Long Term

Given the current market scenario, I do not expect silver prices to move higher by the end of 2026. Prices may remain under pressure, with further downside possible as long as US interest rates remain elevated and the Federal Reserve does not start lowering rates.

At current levels, investors should adopt a wait-and-watch approach. If silver prices come down to around ₹1,75,000, investors may consider adding small quantities. While a recovery in silver is possible over the long term, I do not expect any significant recovery in the short term. Investors should remain cautious and monitor the interest rate outlook before making fresh decisions.

Ram Raheja, Managing Director, S Raheja on Mumbai home sales for October

“Registration data from IGR Maharashtra shows Mumbai’s residential market rising 9% year-on-year in October, and that growth has been steady over the past three months. For our buyers, the priorities haven’t changed: the address, the quality of design and construction, and whether the developer has a record they can trust. We’re also seeing interest in locations that weren’t on most shortlists a few years ago, where buyers are balancing lifestyle with connectivity. Whether that holds will depend on the same things that have always mattered: the product and the track record behind it.”

October Auto Sales Reflect Strong Festive Demand; Karma Capital’s Perspective Amid Earnings Season

The Indian automobile industry witnessed strong festive demand in October, with two-wheelers and passenger vehicles leading the recovery. Two-wheeler registrations grew 11% YoY during the first 21 days of the festive season, while passenger vehicle registrations increased 6%, despite a high base. October wholesale volumes were particularly encouraging, with most major OEMs reporting double-digit growth due to channel inventory build-up ahead of Diwali. Two-wheelers remained the strongest segment, supported by healthy domestic demand and exports. The demand was especially visible in the electric two-wheeler segment, where demand beat previous all-time-highs set in October 2024.

The commercial vehicle segment continues to benefit from robust demand, with truck volumes growing strongly, supported by improved economic activity and fleet replacement. However, the tractor segment remains relatively weak, with wholesale volumes declining 10-12% YoY in October, reflecting some moderation in rural demand. Overall, the festive season performance reinforces the sustained demand momentum across most segments.

From an investment perspective, we would closely track retail demand versus wholesale dispatches to monitor inventory build-up, market-share trends, new product launches, order books and export momentum. In two-wheelers and passenger vehicles, the ability to sustain market-share gains, particularly in SUVs and electric vehicles, will be an important differentiator. In commercial vehicles, fleet utilisation, freight availability and replacement demand will remain key indicators, while rural demand, monsoon trends and farm economics will determine the recovery in tractors.

Gold and silver rebound after October’s sharp selloff; silver lags gold despite gains

Gaurav Garg, Head - Research, Lemonn

Gold and silver are attempting a recovery after the sharp liquidation seen towards the end of October. Silver is leading the rebound with a stronger percentage gain, but its recent correction remains significant: the gold-to-silver ratio has climbed to around 79, highlighting silver’s relative underperformance. The latest bounce may indicate short-covering and bargain buying, although a sustained recovery will require stronger follow-through. WTI crude has retreated below $102 as traders reassess the geopolitical risk premium built into oil prices following last week’s rally. The decline offers some relief on the energy front, but uncertainty around Middle East supply routes remains a key risk. The rupee has strengthened modestly against the dollar, offering limited relief to importers. However, elevated oil prices and October’s substantial foreign portfolio outflows remain important factors for India’s currency outlook.

Mutual funds rally as Sensex surges over 800 points; Reliance earnings and falling crude lift equity NAVs, boost investor sentiment: BhilwariaFinserv

Mutual Fund market update by Abhishek Bhilwaria, Partner, BhilwariaFinserv

The mutual fund market is experiencing a strong positive rally today (November 2, 2026), driven by a sharp gap-up opening where the BSE Sensex surged over 800 points (1.08%) to cross 75,260 and the NSE Nifty 50 climbed nearly 217 points (0.94%) to trade near 23,270 in early market action. This broad-based equity recovery primed to lift Net Asset Values (NAVs) across equity-oriented schemes is heavily catalyzed by index heavyweight Reliance Industries jumping nearly 6% on strong earnings, alongside a 2.5% drop in international Brent crude to $110 per barrel which has boosted energy, infrastructure, and PSU bank fund components. As institutional fund managers capitalize on recent market corrections to accumulate high-conviction value picks, retail investors are also seeing fresh tactical entry points this week with new fund offerings (NFOs) opening up, including the Kotak FMP - 336 Fund and the Quant Silver ETF Fund of Fund.

From the Indian bullion industry’s perspective, buying remains cautious, although the festive and wedding season continues to support demand.

For the week ahead, volatility is likely to persist, with US midterm election results, economic data and geopolitical developments influencing prices. Any sustained recovery will largely depend on global market cues.”

Forex traders said a positive domestic market and softening of crude oil prices cushioned the downside.

At the interbank foreign exchange market, the rupee opened at 94.90, then fell to 94.97 against the US dollar, registering a fall of 21 paise from its previous close.

On Friday, the rupee had settled at 94.76 against the American currency. - PTI

Bitcoin enters November at $78,000 with cautious sentiment; $80,000 breakout hinges on institutional inflows and market liquidity

“Bitcoin enters November at a critical juncture, trading around $78,000 after a subdued October that saw weakening momentum and cautious investor sentiment. The absence of a significant premium in Bitcoin futures indicates that speculative appetite remains limited, with traders awaiting stronger signals before taking fresh positions. The immediate resistance stands near $78,450, and a sustained breakout could open the path towards $80,000–$82,000. However, failure to maintain support around $77,000 could lead to further consolidation towards $75,000.

November’s trajectory will largely depend on institutional inflows, broader liquidity conditions and developments in US monetary policy. As Bitcoin completes 18 years since the release of its white paper, its growing institutional adoption reflects its evolution into an established global asset class. For investors, the focus should remain on tracking ETF flows, market liquidity and key technical levels rather than reacting to short-term price fluctuations. A sustained recovery in buying activity could set the tone for a stronger finish to 2026.” - Avinash Shekhar, Co-Founder & CEO, Pi42

Bitcoin rebounds to $78,455, but $643 million ETF outflows and Binance theft cloud recovery prospects

    Vikram Subburaj, CEO, Giottus.com

Bitcoin recovered to about $78,455 on November 2, gaining 1.11 per cent over 24 hours as the market steadied after last week’s sell-off. However, the crypto asset remained 1.34 per cent lower over seven days, while Friday’s $643.2 million withdrawal from US spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds left the rebound facing a fresh test of demand.

The $6.3 billion theft at Binance has made the pace of customer withdrawals a concern alongside prices. Reuters reported on November 2 that customers had withdrawn a net $3.64 billion as the exchange resumed services; Binance said withdrawals were stabilising and it had covered 95 per cent of the stolen assets.

ETF investors had been adding money before the October 30 reversal, with Farside Investors recording combined inflows of $440.8 million over the preceding four sessions. Friday’s $643.2 million outflow erased those gains and left the October 26-30 period with net withdrawals of $202.4 million.

BlackRock’s IBIT lost $233.7 million on Friday, while Fidelity’s FBTC recorded withdrawals of $201 million. Their combined $434.7 million accounted for approximately 68 per cent of the day’s net outflow, placing the two major products at the centre of the reversal.

For Bitcoin, the first downside reference is around $77,500, close to CoinMarketCap’s retrieved 24-hour low of $77,544.78. A failure to hold that area would bring Friday’s $76,173 trough back into focus.

The immediate upside hurdle is around $78,500, matching CoinMarketCap’s retrieved daily high of $78,518.31. Beyond that, 80,000-81,500 is the next recovery zone to monitor, while Glassnode identified 84,000-85,000 as a higher resistance band in its October 28 report.

On-chain evidence was already showing weak demand before the breach: CryptoQuant put the 30-day sum of apparent Bitcoin demand at approximately minus 76,000 BTC on October 25. Glassnode’s October 28 report estimated entity-adjusted profit-taking at about $260 million a day, roughly half the pace around September’s high. These readings pre-date the $6.3 billion theft.

The US interest-rate outlook gives the recovery another complication: the Federal Reserve held its target range at 3.75-4 per cent on October 28, but two members preferred a quarter-percentage-point increase. With the next meeting scheduled for December 8-9, that dissent makes stronger employment or inflation readings a potential source of renewed pressure on crypto.

The November 2 ISM manufacturing survey and November 4 services survey will offer early indications of activity and price pressures ahead of the October employment report on November 6. Strong payroll growth accompanied by firm wage increases on November 6 could reinforce expectations of restrictive policy, potentially lifting Treasury yields and the dollar and making Bitcoin’s recovery harder to sustain.

The November 3 US midterm elections add political uncertainty to that economic calendar. Changes in congressional control after November 3 could affect fiscal negotiations and the prospects for digital-asset legislation.

October consumer inflation, scheduled for November 10, and producer inflation on November 13 will provide the next major checks on price pressures. Inflation above expectations in those November 10 and 13 releases could strengthen the case for further tightening before the December 8-9 meeting.

Among the five largest altcoins excluding stablecoins, Ethereum traded at $2,293.42, up 1.22 per cent over 24 hours while BNB rose 1.53 per cent to $713.74. XRP gained 0.33 per cent to $1.25, and TRON advanced 1.21 per cent to $0.3131, while Solana slipped 0.72 per cent to $95.02.

All five remained lower over seven days, with Ethereum down 0.50 per cent, BNB 2.93 per cent and XRP 2.18 per cent. Solana’s 5.51 per cent weekly decline and TRON’s 4.99 per cent fall showed how much ground remained unrecovered despite gains elsewhere on November 2.

After a $643.2 million ETF exit, the next few US sessions will matter as much as the next price advance. A recovery through $78,500 accompanied by renewed ETF inflows would provide firmer evidence of returning demand, while a fall below $77,500 would put Friday’s lows back within reach.

Our advice: Avoid leveraged bets on Bitcoin’s rebound towards $78,500. Keep fresh purchases small ahead of the US jobs report on November 6.

Riya Sehgal, Research Analyst, Delta Exchange

Crypto markets are stabilising after last week’s sell-off, with Bitcoin recovering toward $78,500 and Ethereum approaching $2,300 as selling pressure eases.

Institutional flows remain a headwind, with US spot Bitcoin ETFs recording about $202 million in net outflows last week, while Ether ETFs saw around $431 million leave.

The near-term outlook will depend on ETF demand, US economic data and the direction of Treasury yields, which could continue to influence liquidity and risk appetite.

Technically, Bitcoin needs to reclaim $79,200, followed by the $80,300–$80,900 resistance zone, to strengthen the recovery. A failure to sustain the rebound could bring the $76,500–$77,000 region back into focus.

Ethereum is showing better short-term momentum, but needs to clear $2,330 to extend the recovery.

Until these resistance levels are reclaimed, the current move remains a relief recovery, with macro data and institutional flows likely to determine the next directional move.

Bitcoin, Ethereum rise as Binance restores withdrawals in phases; crypto market gains remain mixed

Purvang Mashru, Lead Analyst, BitDelta India

Bitcoin rose 1.10% to about $78,387, while Ethereum gained 1.25% to $2,290. Seven of the top 10 cryptos advanced, with an average gain of 0.50%. Gains extended beyond the two largest assets, although performance remained uneven.

Binance reported that it began restoring withdrawals in phases and approximately 95% of the affected amount had been replenished. This reopening restores access for some customers, while remaining asset purchases and network checks keep the recovery process ongoing.

BNB gained 1.64% and TRON rose 1.36%, while XRP added 0.44%. Solana slipped 0.44% to $95.08, despite recovering from its daily low of $93.08. The divergence shows that broader gains have not extended uniformly across the market.

Bitcoin traded between $77,504 and $78,514 and finished near the upper end of that range. Ether also held close to its daily high of $2,295. Both retained much of their intraday strength, while Solana’s recovery from its low still left it lower over the day.

On the macro calendar, the October US employment report is due on 6 November at 7:00 PM IST. Hiring and unemployment figures will provide fresh information for assessing monetary policy.

Bitcoin’s support reference is near $77,504, with resistance around $78,514. These describe recent price action without long or short view

Bitcoin and Ether stage modest recovery after sell-off; market remains cautious ahead of US midterm elections

    Nischal Shetty, Founder, WazirX

“Bitcoin traded near $78,482, while Ether hovered around $2,292, as cryptocurrencies staged a modest recovery following last week’s sell-off. Both remained lower over seven days, with Bitcoin down 1.39% and Ether declining 0.75%. Total cryptocurrency market capitalisation stood near $2.63 trillion.

The broader backdrop remained cautious ahead of Tuesday’s US midterm elections, October US jobs data and several central bank decisions. The US market showed the Nasdaq down 2.86%, the S&P 500 declining 1.82% and the Dow falling 1.09%. The VIX rose 12.91% to 19.42, signalling increased demand for protection against market swings.

Asian equities showed greater resilience. The Nikkei gained 0.12%, while the Shanghai Composite and Sensex each advanced 0.42%. South Korea’s KOSPI rose 1.21%.

Derivative exposure remained substantial. CoinMarketCap’s dashboard showed approximately $291.31 billion in perpetual open interest and $1.18 billion in dated futures open interest. Crypto’s recovery remains tentative, with election developments, economic data and confidence in exchange security likely to shape near-term sentiment.

Retail investors should prioritise capital preservation ahead of the US elections, avoid chasing the rebound and stagger any planned spot purchases within an affordable risk budget. For experienced futures traders, considering BTC longs only after a sustained move above $80,000 and a successful retest would be viable; a break below $77,000 followed by a failed recovery could favour shorts. For ETH, sustained trading above $2,300 followed by a successful retest could support a long setup, while a break below $2,200 and a failed recovery could favour short positions.”

J.P. Morgan: National Stock Exchange of India | Dominant franchise in a growth market; Initiate at OW

NSE operates the largest Indian exchange with a dominant share (FY26) across cash (93%), index options (72%), single stock derivatives (~100%). While index options market share has declined to ~66% (Sep-26) following BSE’s entry and SEBI-driven regulatory changes, we believe the worst is behind us. We initiate at OW with a Sep-27E PT of Rs2,130, based on 40x Sep-28E core EPS plus NSE’s NSDL stake, implying 19.5% upside. Within Indian capital market infrastructure, we prefer NSE, given its market leadership position, more diversified revenue stream, and higher margins. Potential key catalysts: easing of CAS overhang, market share stabilisation, and continued SIP/retail flows. Key swing factors: Sustained index options ADPTV >Rs510bn in H2FY27E, or a share loss in index options premium to below 62%.

Financials and valuation. We expect the EBITDA margin to trough at 75.3% in FY27 before recovering to 77.1% by FY29, driving APAT to compound at ~14% over FY27–29, with ROE recovering from 32.5% to 34.5%. We value NSE at 40x Sep-28E core EPS plus its NSDL stake to arrive at a market value of Rs5.0tn, or Rs2,130/share — a PEG of ~2.8×, comparable to BSE and in line with regional exchange peers at 2.5-3.0x.

Stock recommendations: IT Services (Sector View: Neutral) - CTSH: Another guidance cut driven by weak demand

CTSH reported reasonable performance in 3QCY26 but cut its revenue growth guidance for CY2026 to 4-4.4% from 4-5.5% earlier. Guidance cut was driven by weaker-than-expected discretionary spending, especially in healthcare and consumer segments. Deal win figures were mixed, showing moderate yoy growth in TCV and a decline in ACV on a ttm basis. CTSH results indicate that the demand environment will continue to be under pressure. Although management sounded optimistic about CY2027 growth prospects, several factors need to fall into place with the path to stronger growth remaining unclear.

Stock recommendations: Acme Solar Holdings (Reco: Add, FV: Rs. 445) - BESS continues to drive the earnings beat

ACME Solar reported 88% yoy growth in 2QFY27 EBITDA to Rs7.5 bn—a third of which came from merchant BESS (nil in 2QFY26), while generation assets saw 25% yoy growth in EBITDA on the back of a 20% yoy increase in generation. ACME has a portfolio of 8.4 GW comprising 3 GW of operational capacity, 4.7 GW with signed PPAs and 670 MW of awarded capacity. Management has raised its March 2027 BESS target to 12 GWh (up from 10 GWh), even as generation capacity addition remains slow due to transmission constraints. BESS will partially offset some earnings loss from these execution delays; valuations at 11.7X EV/EBITDA do not capture the risk of execution slippages to our 48% EBITDA CAGR projection through FY2030. Downgrade to ADD with a revised FV of Rs445 (up from Rs400).

  • November 2, 2026 06:42

Stock recommendations: United Spirits (Reco: Add, FV: Rs. 1510) - Headwinds fading, tailwinds building; upgrade to BUY

UNSP’s revenue growth over the past four quarters has been weighed down by adverse regulatory policy in Maharashtra. As this headwind anniversarises, we expect P&A value growth to return to a double-digit growth trajectory. Beyond the base effect, several growth and premiumization drivers are converging: (1) Ongoing UK FTA implementation, (2) favorable policy changes in Karnataka, (3) sustained momentum in Smirnoff, (4) likely regulatory tailwinds in Tamil Nadu, (5) a potential revival of the recently relaunched McD No.1 and (6) a robust innovation pipeline. We maintain FY2028-29E EPS, roll over and revise FV to Rs1,510 (Rs1,550 earlier) based on 42X Dec 2028E PE (44X). We upgrade the stock to BUY from ADD.

  • November 2, 2026 06:42

Stock recommendations: Trent (Reco: Add, FV: Rs.3375) - Healthy growth, resilient margins; upgrade to ADD

Trent’s 2QFY27 standalone revenue grew 23% yoy, as indicated in the earlier reported print, ahead of our estimate. EBITDA margin of 18.2% was up by 100 bps yoy, driven by a solid 120 bps yoy GM expansion. Management indicated that consumer demand is broadly positive and it has taken mitigating measures to offset input cost pressures. We raise our FY2027-29 revenue estimates by ~1% and increase our gross margin assumptions, resulting in EPS upgrades of ~3-7%. This, coupled with roll-forward to December 2028, drives an increase in our FV to Rs3,375 (Rs3,150 earlier). Upgrade to ADD.

  • November 2, 2026 06:42

Stock recommendations: ICRA (Reco: Buy, FV: Rs. 6400) - Largely in line; valuations compelling

ICRA reported a decent 2QFY27, with EBIT growth of 24% yoy supported by 30% revenue growth (aided by M&A) and a ~150 bps EBITDA margin expansion to ~37%. The ratings business remained the key profit driver, with 17% revenue growth and a ~500 bps margin expansion to 41%, benefiting from healthy corporate credit demand and CP issuances along with a favorable base effect. Non-ratings revenue growth (51% yoy) was largely driven by M&A, but underlying margin performance was below expectations. We retain BUY with an FV of Rs6,400, as the current valuation remains attractive, implying little value is being attributed to the non-ratings business and cash balance.

  • November 2, 2026 06:42

Stock recommendations: Equitas Small Finance Bank (Reco: Buy, FV: Rs.85) - Leadership uncertainty overshadows improving fundamentals

Equitas SFB reported an RoE of 14% in 2QFY27, indicating a steady improvement in profitability. Asset quality is in a comfortable shape, with NNPL of 0.7% and slippages of ~4%. NIM declined ~50 bps qoq due to surplus liquidity. At the same time, the MD & CEO made an unexpected announcement of stepping down to address perceived conflict of interest. The valuation has corrected sharply to factor in the leadership uncertainty. We retain BUY (FV of Rs85) to reflect the strong business momentum, but a rerating does not seem imminent until there is more clarity on leadership stability.

  • November 2, 2026 06:40

Stock recommendations: Restaurant Brands Asia (Reco: Add, FV: Rs. 105) - Double-digit SSSG sustains

BK India reported another strong quarter, with 14% SSSG (KIE: 11%) and 24%/94% yoy sales/EBITDA (pre-Ind AS 116) growth in 2Q. BK’s initiatives on value offerings/innovations are driving traffic, while cluster-based network expansion and operating leverage are improving margins. Management remains focused on customer recruitment through existing strategy and aims to accelerate network expansion to 80-100 stores/annum (50-70 earlier). We raise estimates by 1-3% and increase FV to 105 (from Rs100). ADD

  • November 2, 2026 06:40

Stock recommendations: eClerx Services (Reco: Sell, FV: Rs. 1450) - Moderating growth and profitability

eClerx reported a mixed quarter, with better-than-expected growth aided by short-term engagements and a significant deterioration in profitability. Deal wins were weak, down 33% yoy, due to both delayed decision-making and smaller deal awards as clients adopt AI into their operations. Tepid deal wins limit growth visibility and improvement in conversion is required to sustain double-digit revenue growth. A steep yoy EBITDA margin decline raises investor concerns regarding the impact of AI deflation on the business. We cut FY2028-29E EPS by ~5-6% and revise FV to Rs1,450. Maintain SELL.
